Empowering Voices: The Inspiring Journey of the Auditory Verbal Center

We are thrilled to share the highlights from our recent DeKalb Talks Tourism podcast episode, where we had the pleasure of hosting Debbie Brilling, Executive Director/CEO of the Auditory Verbal Center, a nonprofit organization, and her son Jonathan Brilling, Outreach Coordinator. Through the dedication and expertise of the center, Jonathan learned to listen and speak, skills that many thought were impossible for him to achieve. Now, as an adult, Jonathan not only communicates effectively but also works alongside his mother to help other families and children experiencing similar challenges.

Debbie's journey from a mother seeking help for her son to leading the very organization that provided that help is a testament to her strength and commitment. Under her leadership, the Auditory Verbal Center continues to be a beacon of hope and a hub of innovation, providing auditory verbal therapy and support to countless families.

Jonathan's role as Outreach Coordinator allows him to connect with the community, spreading awareness about the center's services and advocating for individuals with hearing loss. His personal experience and success story serve as powerful motivation for many.
