Experience the Haunting Magic of the 39th Annual Tour of Southern Ghosts at Stone Mountain Park

Atlanta’s favorite family-friendly Halloween event is back! Presented by ART Station, the Tour of Southern Ghosts will return to the Historic Square in Stone Mountain Park for its 39th year, offering six enchanting nights of spooky storytelling and Southern folklore. From October 11th through October 26th, visitors will step into a world where history and the supernatural collide, led by lantern light through tales that have chilled the hearts of generations.
Step Into Southern Folklore
Imagine wandering through a bygone era, where the flicker of lanterns illuminates winding paths and brings the echoes of the past to life. The Tour of Southern Ghosts isn’t your typical haunted house experience. Instead, it’s an immersive storytelling festival that highlights some of the South's most spine-tingling ghost stories. Professional storytellers and performers will share tales that evoke laughter, gasps, and even goosebumps, celebrating the rich tradition of Southern folklore in a uniquely entertaining way.
Each night offers a fresh batch of stories, so every visit promises something new. Whether it’s a mischievous spirit haunting an old plantation or a chilling legend from deep in the Southern swamps, you’ll be captivated by the tales woven from a culture steeped in history and mystery.
A Family Tradition for Nearly Four Decades
Perfect for all ages, the Tour of Southern Ghosts is designed with families in mind. While some of the stories may give you a bit of a scare, they’re never too frightening for children. In fact, this beloved event has become a fall tradition for families across Georgia, with many making it an annual outing. It’s an opportunity to introduce younger generations to the art of storytelling—a craft passed down from one generation to the next in Southern culture.
With around 10,000 visitors each year, it’s easy to see why this tour has stood the test of time. Each night, multiple tours will guide groups through the Historic Square’s carefully preserved antebellum buildings, creating an eerie and atmospheric backdrop for these tales of the South’s supernatural past.
