Growing Community: Discover Global Growers Network
In DeKalb County, community takes root in more ways than one. Global Growers Network is bringing people, cultures, and food together through the power of agriculture.
Based in Decatur, Global Growers Network connects a network of 200 farmers and local food-system leaders representing a variety of agricultural traditions. Together, they grow fresh and culturally significant foods for their families and local markets while helping strengthen Georgia’s local food economy.
The organization’s roots stretch back to 2010, when families who had recently arrived in the Clarkston area began farming a shared plot of land in Decatur. What started as a place to grow food and build community has blossomed into a network supporting growers through access to land, resources, markets, and opportunities to expand agricultural businesses.
And there are plenty of ways to experience the mission firsthand. Global Growers offers volunteer opportunities, educational experiences, community events, and visits to growing spaces including Decatur’s Kitchen Garden and Indian Creek Market Farm.
Whether you’re passionate about fresh food, sustainability, cultural traditions, or simply discovering another side of DeKalb, Global Growers is proof that when a community grows together, everyone can flourish.
