Brookhaven is home to one of the state's first mixed-use developments, Town Brookhaven, a 600,000-square-foot project, other large retail centers in Brookhaven include Northeast Plaza which focuses on discount and Hispanic-oriented stores.
Brookhaven, the gateway to Atlanta, is DeKalb's largest city - officially incorporating in 2012. With more than 50,000 residents, this 12 square miles city is home to Oglethorpe University, the historic Capital City Club, the 135-acre Murphey Candler Park, and the historic Peachtree Golf Club, which was founded by Bobby Jones. Brookhaven offers 11 great hotels, restaurants, shops and even a dine-in movie theater.

The Oglethorpe University Museum of Art presents three major and several smaller exhibitions each year featuring art which is international, representational, figurative and spiritual in nature. Oglethorpe’s state-of-the-art Conant Performing Arts Center spotlights student productions and local performance companies, as well as well-known musicians and speakers.
